About
BEAN AND GONE
We love coffee and want you to too; we could talk for hours on how to brew the perfect cup, or how we developed our Old World Blend, over a period of 5 years and how every year it changes as we get new fresh crops of coffee. Come along to any of our market stalls, or events and you’ll see our passion, but most importantly taste a great cup of coffee.
In all we do, from selection of green beans from rare micro-lots and single origin estates, through roasting, packaging and brewing, we do with and obsessive level of care and attention.
If you’re interested in having us at your market or event, or for any coffee training, equipment, coffee cupping and tasting sessions please contact us on info@beanandgone.com.

Coffee at Barcamp Derry
This Saturday BEAN AND GONE will be hitting the road early and heading up north to Barcamp Derry, serving up coffee (brewed in a ridiculously large number of ways) all day. We’ll have our Espresso machine “Frankie”, Vac Pots, Moka Pots and Filter Cones and more.

Following up from the success of last months Guest Coffee (HasBean’s Bolivia Machacamarca) we’re very happy to announce our next Guest Coffee is Ristretto’s Espresso Blend.
Ristretto are a speciality coffee roaster from Banbridge, Co Down and supply coffee to cafes and consumers throughout Northern Ireland and beyond. The blend we will be using has received a prestigious 2 Star Gold award in this year’s Great Taste Awards. In their own words their Espresso blend is:
A very special and individual blend, ethically sourced from respected family run estates in Latin America. Each component of the blend brings its own unique flavours to the final cup. The Central and South American coffees taste like chocolate and caramel – beautiful with velvety milk in a cappuccino. A very special Asian coffee adds a delicate sweetness – can you taste the hint of grapefruit?
Each component is individually roasted and then blended to create just the right balance of flavours in the cup.
Having tried this before on several occasions, I can assure you it’s a wonderfully sweet, balanced blend and I can’t wait to be serving it up beside our own coffee on Saturday.
As always we’ll have bags of Beans, and coffee brewing equipment on sale and of course will always have time to answer any coffee questions you may have, or just have a good chat.

Cupcake Camp

On Saturday 15th August, Blick Studios, Belfast will host Northern Ireland’s first Cupcake Camp.

It’s open source baking!” and we’ll be there brewing up fresh tea and coffee free, throughout the day, perfect for washing down those cupcakes. As well as the complimentary drinks, we’ll be selling bags of freshly roasted beans and if you want something different espresso drinks too.
Our coffee menu for the day is as follows:
Complimentary Coffee – Fresh Filter Pot of our house coffee, Old World Blend
And for espresso based drinks we are offering two new coffees:
Milk Drinks – Yemen Mokha Matrar
Espresso Shots – Nicaragua El Limoncillo
So don’t be afraid to come up to us and ask for a shot of espresso, you never know you might find you like it.
See you at Cupcake Camp
On the Radio

We’re going to be on Feile FM today from 1200, talking about speciality coffee, home howtos, of course, brewing up a vac-pot of coffee in the studio.
Ethical Coffee
Since we started roasting and bagging our own beans we are regularly asked if our coffee is Fairtrade.
We have always been a supporter of the right of farmers to receive a decent price for their crops. Fairtrade was originally founded to fight against the growing trend of supermarkets and conglomerates who were hammering down the price of coffee and in turn giving the farmer less and less.
Yes farmers get a “fair” price, but is it enough?
As a speciality coffee roaster, we decided to ensure that all beans we buy are not only “Fair” but are bought directly at auction from sustainable farms. This way the farmer is not only getting a better price but also a continual commitment to buy.
This is the difference between subsidence farming and making a profit. A profit which can be put back into the business, Â not only improving the quality of the coffee but also their way of life.
Filter Cones – Howto
Making good coffee doesn’t have to cost the earth, use a lot of electricity, fancy equipment or even create a mess. When we take coffee brewing back to its most simple form, you not only save money but you might actually find it tastes better too!
For one cup of coffee all you need is a desert spoon’s worth of coarsely ground coffee (remember to only grind what you need, or use fresh pre-ground), put the paper filter in the funnel, add coffee and pour in your hot water, stir the grounds and add hot water until there is enough in your cup an thats it!
And it doesn’t end there, anything left in the filter can be poured down the sink, helping keep your drain clear (yes coffee grounds are actually good for your pipes!) and the filter paper can be added to you compost pile if you have one.
So there you go, you get a nice cup of coffee, save money, time and effort and help the environment too, what better way to start the day?
Lisburn Farmers Market
This coming Saturday, 6th June, Castle Gardens hosts the latest Lisburn Farmer’s Market.

Rising above past criticism and terrible weather, the May market was success for all involved, both traders and most importantly customers. The summer-like weather, donkey rides, Art on the Rails and the market itself created a enjoyable experience for all and drew in new visitors, with the tent being packed all day long.
We’ll be there again this Saturday, with a wide range of BEAN AND GONE artisan coffee beans and serving drinks too. This month we’ll be selling some exciting single origins coffees that aren’t available on our website, including; Guatamala Cup of Excellence Perla Anexos and a new Kenyan coffee, Kitamaiyu Estate AA .
Hopefully the great weather will hold and we’ll see you there!
